ICC Cricket World Cup and Wife

A man had two of the best tickets for the World Cup Final. As he sits down, another man comes along and asks if anyone is sitting in the seat next to him.

"No", he says, "the seat belongs to me but it is empty.."

"This is incredible!" said the man, "who in their right mind would have a seat like this for the World Cup Final, the biggest sporting event of the year, and not use it?"

He says, "Well, actually, my wife was supposed to come with me, but she passed away. This is the first Cup Final we haven't been to together since we got married."

"Oh... I'm sorry to hear that. That's terrible. I guess you couldn't find someone else, a friend or relative or even a neighbour to take the seat?"

The man shakes his head... "No. They're all at the funeral."

My Favourite Song - 02

Here's another of my all time favourite.. Be it the lyrics or the music or the singers.. everything is awesome. And the cute actor Jugalhansraj is there, that makes the song even more cute.

Pyar main hota hai kya Jaadu
Tu jaane ya main jaanu
hmm.. hmm...ummm..
Pyar main hota hai kya Jaadu
Tu jaane ya main jaanu (male)

Rehta nahin kyon dil per kaabu
Tu jaane ya main jaanu
Pyar main hota hai kya Jaadu
Tu jaane ya main jaanu (Female)

Gun gun karta kyon firta hai
koyi bhanwara baagon main (male)
hoo...
Gun gun karta kyon firta hai
koyi bhanwara baagon main (male)
Kyon hoti hai phool mein khusboo
Tu jaane ya main jaanu (female)
Pyar main hota hai kya Jaadu
Tu jaane ya main jaanu (male)

Chandni raatein hoto chakori
Pagal si kyon hoti hai (female)
hoo...
Chandni raatein hoto chakori
Pagal si kyon hoti hai (female)
Jangal main koyal ku ku
Tu jaane ya main jaanu (male)
Pyar main hota hai kya Jaadu
Tu jaane ya main jaanu (female)

Jaise hariyali aur saawan
Jaise barkha aur baadal (male)
hoo...
Jaise hariyali aur saawan
Jaise barkha aur baadal (male)
Tere liye main, mere liye tu
Tu jaane ya main jaanu (female)
Pyar main hota hai kya Jaadu
Tu jaane ya main jaanu (male)
Rehta nahin kyon dil per kaabu
Tu jaane ya main jaanu (female)
Tu jaane ya main jaanu (male)
Tu jaane ya main jaanu (female)
hmm hmm hmmm...

My Favourite Song - 01

I am huge fan of Anuradha Paudwal. Her voice is melodious and is so soothing, that I feel very happy to listen to her songs. If I am in angry / sad mood all I need is listen some of my favourite singers. Also, it has the music by the ever green Nadeem-Shravan. I love all their compositions. There are other songs of this movie which are again all time favourite of mine.
Here's one from her songs, that I sang in D's annual awards function and won the prize too.

Movie Name : Dil hai ki manta nahin
Song Title : Dil hai ki manta nahin
Singers : Anuradha Paudwal, Kumar Sanu
Lyricist :

Dil hai ki manta nahin
Muskil badi hai
rasme mohabbat
Yeh janta hi nahin

Ho... Dil hai ke manta nahin
Dil hai ke manta nahin
Yeh Bekarari Kyon ho rahi hai
Yeh janta nahin

Ho, dil hai ke manta nahin
Dil hai ki manta nahin

Dil to yeh chaahe
har pal tumhe hum
Bas yunhi dekha kare;
Marke bhi hum na
tumse judaa ho
Aao kuch aisa karen;
Mujhe mein sama jaa
aa paas aa ja
Humdum mere humnasheen

Dil hai ki manta nahin (2)

Teri wafayee
teri mohabbat
Sab kuch
hai mere liye;
Tune diya hai
nazaraana dil ka
Hum to hai tere liye;
Yeh baat such hai,
Sab jaante hai,
Tumko bhi hai yeh yakeen.

Dil hai ki manta nahin(2)

Mushkil Badi hai rasme mohabbat
Yeh janta hi nahin

Ho, Dil hai ke manta nahin
Dil hai ke maata nahin

We - the poor antz

Are You Waiting To Be Called…?

Back when the telegraph was the fastest method of long-distance communication, a young man applied for a job as a Morse Code operator. Answering an ad in the newspaper, he went to the office address that was listed.

When he arrived, he entered a large, busy office filled with noise and clatter, including the sound of the telegraph in the background. A sign on the receptionist's counter instructed job applicants to fill out a form and wait until they were summoned to enter the inner office.

The young man filled out his form and sat down with the seven other applicants in the waiting area. After a few minutes, the young man stood up, crossed the room to the door of the inner office, and walked right in.

Naturally the other applicants perked up, wondering what was going on. They muttered among themselves that they hadn't heard any summons yet. They assumed that the young man who went into the office made a mistake and would be disqualified.

Within a few minutes, however, the employer escorted the young man out of the office and said to the other applicants, "Gentlemen, thank you very much for coming, but the job has just been filled."

The other applicants began grumbling to each other, and one spoke up saying, "Wait a minute, I don't understand. He was the last to come in, and we never even got a chance to be interviewed. Yet he got the job. That's not fair!"

The employer said, "I'm sorry, but the last several minutes while you've been sitting here, the telegraph has been ticking out the following message in Morse Code: 'If you understand this message, then come right in. The job is yours.' None of you heard it or understood it. This young man did. The job is his."

We are so busy living in a world that is full of noise and clatter, like that office. People are distracted and unable to hear their inner voice... So I ask you, as I ask myself, "Are you listening, or are you waiting to be called?"

"There is something in every one of you that waits and listens for the sound of the genuine in yourself. It is the only true guide you will ever have. And if you cannot hear it, you will all of your life spend your days on the ends of strings that somebody else pulls." ~ Howard Thurman

Keep driving...

One day a young lady was driving along with her father. They came upon a storm, and the young lady asked her father, "What should I do?"

He said "Keep driving". Cars began to pull over to the side, the storm was getting worse. "What should I do?" the young lady asked. "Keep driving," her father replied.

On up a few feet, she noticed that eighteen wheelers were also pulling over. She told her dad, "I must pull over, I can barely see ahead. It is terrible, and everyone is pulling over!" Her father told her, "Don't give up, just keep driving!"

Now the storm was terrible, but she never stopped driving, and soon she could see a little more clearly. After a couple of miles she was again on Dry land, and the sun came out.

Her father said, "Now you can pull over and get out." She said "But why now?" He said, "When you get out, look back at all the people that gave up and are still in the storm; because you never gave up, your storm is now over.

This is a testimony for anyone who is going through "hard times". Just because everyone else, even the strongest, gives up. You don't have to...if you keep going, soon your storm will be over and the sun will shine upon your face again.

A Tale Of Two Seas

Sitting in the Geography class in school, I remember how fascinated I was when we were being taught all about the Dead Sea.

As you probably recall, the Dead Sea is really a Lake, not a sea (and as my Geography teacher pointed out, if you understood that, it would guarantee 4 marks in the term paper!)

Its so high in salt content that the human body can float easily. You can almost lie down and read a book! The salt in the Dead Sea is as high as 35% - almost 10 times the normal ocean water. And all that saltiness has meant that there is no life at all in the Dead Sea. No fish. No vegetation. No sea animals. Nothing lives in the Dead sea.

And hence the name: Dead Sea.

While the Dead Sea has remained etched in my memory, I don't seem to recall learning about the Sea of Galilee in my school Geography lesson. So when I heard about the Sea of Galilee and the Dead Sea and the tale of the two seas - I was intrigued.

Turns out that the Sea of Galilee is just north of the Dead Sea. Both the Sea of Galilee and the Dead Sea receive their water from river Jordan. And yet, they are very, very different.

Unlike the Dead Sea, the Sea of Galilee is pretty, resplendent with rich, colorful marine life. There are lots of plants. And lots of fish too. In fact, the sea of Galilee is home to over twenty different types of fishes.

Same region, same source of water, and yet while one sea is full of life, the other is dead. How come?

Here apparently why. The River Jordan flows into the Sea of Galilee and then flows out. The water simply passes through the Sea of Galilee in and then out - and that keeps the Sea healthy and vibrant, teeming with marine life.
But the Dead Sea is so far below the mean sea level, that it has no outlet. The water flows in from the river Jordan, but does not flow out. There are no outlet streams. It is estimated that over 7 million tons of water evaporate from the Dead Sea every day. Leaving it salty. Too full of minerals. And unfit for any marine life.

The Dead Sea takes water from the River Jordan, and holds it. It does not give. Result? No life at all.

Think about it.

Life is not just about getting. It’s about giving. We all need to be a bit like the Sea of Galilee.

We are fortunate to get wealth, knowledge, love and respect. But if we don't learn to give, we could all end up like the Dead Sea. The love and the respect, the wealth and the knowledge could all evaporate. Like the water in the Dead Sea.

If we get the Dead Sea mentality of merely taking in more water, more money, more everything the results can be disastrous.

Good idea to make sure that in the sea of your own life, you have outlets. Many outlets. For love and wealth - and everything else that you get in your life. Make sure you don't just get, you give too.

Open the taps. And you'll open the floodgates to happiness.

Make that a habit. To share. To give.

And experience life. Experience the magic!
